If you are having a formal wedding reception, you might be
deciding where your guests will sit and with whom. Deciding
where people will sit is a tricky task. You do not want to
accidentally sit your uptight aunt with your rambunctious
college friends. For my wedding reception, I agonized over
seating arrangements. I kept changing them because I wanted
everything to be perfect. Then, when I had finalized my
decision, I realized I had not even thought about place cards. I
might have panicked a bit, but I think every bride to be is
entitled to a break down or two. Save your breakdown for
something more important, like your groom's tuxedo, and make
your place card decisions now. I cannot tell you where to sit
your grumpy cousin but I can help you decide on the perfect
place card.
How to Choose Place Cards for Your Wedding Reception
If you have the energy and the skill, you can make handmade
place cards and create your own wording. Remember, your place
cards are part of the decor of your table. They should match the
rest of your decorations and be pretty on their own. If you are
having a traditional indian wedding, you should make or buy
matching place cards.
You could also just make simple white
place cards that have a small design that corresponds to the
rest of your decor. My friend who used scrolls for her wedding
invitation had very basic white place cards. She then
hand-stamped a scroll design on each card. She did not make her
place cards entirely from scratch but she did add her own little
touch. She received a lot of complements for her efforts.
Sometimes you can purchase your place cards when you purchase
your invitation stationary. Both Hallmark and Moonpig sell place
cards. Alternatively, you could get place cards custom printed
with a photo of you and your fiance. I went with basic white
place cards. I did not have a lot of time to personalize them
because I had put making my decision off for so long. I regret
not being able to make the place cards more personal. Make your
decision now and you can get the place cards that you really
want. Your wedding reception tables will look put together and
beautiful. Your attention to detail will be noticed and your
wedding day will be beautiful.
